I'd agree with the comment about loving the detail (and I'm kind of a scientist too, chemistry and cooking have a lot in common). There is a lot of information in each post and I'm staggered at the sheer amount of work that must go into each one. It's certainly VFM. The tips are also meaningful to every day cooks (unlike some others I could but won't mention). I've also said this before, but it's so well written. Not such a shock perhaps from a Cambridge English graduate, but still... Keep it up Alexina! 😊
Just subscribed as I adore detail. I'm a scientist and love comparing products/techniques, doing taste tests on friends and family, but it's great that you are sharing the load! As for future topics - anything to do with crispiness!? eg crispy condiments, wet or dry. Croutons, crispy onions, chilli oil with crispy bits, anything crispy to sprinkle on food. My plates these days always need a crispy element.
Oh I love this!! This has got me thinking about a 101 on texture in food maybe?! Fascinating. And I definitely have some thoughts/recipes for crispy things. I’ll definitely cover this — probably in Summer as the next few months of content are mapped out already but if you want me to share a few ideas via DM now just let me know x
Thanks and yes, definitely please share anything by DM. Crispy breadcrumbs are my current favourite. It's good to have something that lasts for a while, a week or two at least so you can just grab and sprinkle when you need that crispy element without having to make from scratch. I love the look of all the different chilli oils containing crispy elements now - lots of new appealing ones on the market as well as the (my) original Lao Gan Ma, but there are too many to try.
Crispy (fried/baked) cheese is of course the pinnacle of crispy yumminess.
I think you did the best Christmas list I saw - and I read a lot of them. Different price points and not ridiculously expensive. I also like the detail of your posts eg cutting up potatoes for roasting. Never thought I ‘d be writing that!!
I'm just really loving all the tips! Its a lovely activity I do on my commute or on my way home as a small escape :)
Aww, that's lovely -- thank you!
