It’s the December Small Wins giveaway! A small way of spreading some extra joy.
This month there are two prizes totaling more than £220:
A Joseph Joseph Space 2-Piece Blue Frying Pan Set
A Sous Chef Amarena Cherry Panettone
There’ll be two winners this month — one will win the pans, the other will win the panettone.
As long as you’re a paid subscriber, entry into the giveaway is automatic — but you can scroll on down to the giveaway instructions if you’d like to secure an extra entry. The giveaway will be live until 8pm on Monday evening.
If you’ve been thinking of becoming a paid subscriber to Small Wins, I have a little Christmas discount for you: whilst the giveaway is open you can get an annual subscription for £48 instead of the usual £59/year. This works out at £1 a week — far less than a coffee costs these days! More information on what a paid subscription gets you can be found here.

Further information on the prizes (and logistics!) can be found below.
Good luck!

DECEMBER’S PRIZES
KITCHEN KIT: JOSEPH JOSEPH SPACE 2-PIECE BLUE FRYING PAN SET
Joseph Joseph launched their first range of pans this year, and the genius of them is in the folding handle design which completely fixes one of the most annoying features of saucepans: their awkward shape. This set includes two frying pans of incredible quality (properly weighty) that are not only suitable for all hobs but also oven-safe to 232ºC/450ºF. These would make an amazing present for yourself or a loved one!
CHRISTMAS JOY: SOUS CHEF’S AMARENA CHERRY PANETTONE
Sous Chef are panettone experts! They stock over 30 on their website and after years of tasting so many, they know what makes a good one. When they decided to launch their own Sous Chef panettone in 2023 it became an instant bestseller, with The Times declaring it their ‘panettone of the year’. For 2024 their signature panettone is this: a soft buttery dough studded with pops of Italian Amarena cherries, produced by a family of bakers in the north of Italy. I can think of no more perfect Christmas treat!
HOW THE SMALL WINS GIVEAWAYS WORK
All paid subscribers will be entered automatically (but please note that I am only able to post prizes to addresses in England for the time being).
To secure an extra entry, simply comment below and let me know either what you love about Small Wins or what you would like to see here in future.
The winners will be chosen through random number selection and I’ll get in contact with them via email.
If you win, but the prize doesn’t appeal, you can decline it and get an extra entry into the next quarter’s giveaway, giving you a better chance of winning next time.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT SOUS CHEF
I have been using Sous Chef for years — it is the place to go for specialist or cheffy ingredients that you would otherwise struggle to find. Their website is like an Aladdin’s cave, with ingredients such as fabulously zingy yuzu kosho, deeply rich Valrhona cocoa powder, dangerously boozy Griottines cherries and one of my secret weapons in the kitchen: white balsamic vinegar. You can find more of my top Sous Chef picks here. The convenience of Sous Chef for the ambitious home cook is unmatched, but fair warning: it’s a very addictive place to shop.
I'm just really loving all the tips! Its a lovely activity I do on my commute or on my way home as a small escape :)
I'd agree with the comment about loving the detail (and I'm kind of a scientist too, chemistry and cooking have a lot in common). There is a lot of information in each post and I'm staggered at the sheer amount of work that must go into each one. It's certainly VFM. The tips are also meaningful to every day cooks (unlike some others I could but won't mention). I've also said this before, but it's so well written. Not such a shock perhaps from a Cambridge English graduate, but still... Keep it up Alexina! 😊
