This was a really evocative read, as the best food and travel writing should be, and makes me want to make cocoa tea immediately! I first had churros 40 years ago when staying with a family in the Canary Islands and they also served it with hot chocolate thickened with cornflour. I can still remember the taste. Thank you for sharing this.
Such a lovely message to receive, I really appreciate it! And so love hearing about your experience with churros — isn’t it interesting that thick chocolate sauce has taken over somehow?!
This is yummy, I have actually tried it. One of my team at work also has St Lucian family and she brought some in to share with us in a flask. Thanks for the recipe Alexina! Oh and well done again on your Saturday Kitchen appearance! Unfortunately work prevented me from seeing most of it but meeting Idris Elba wow! I mean I'm not gay but... 😉😁

Oh wow, keep sharing whatever you feel like, it works. That sounds unreal. I need to get my hands on a cocoa stick x
Aw thank you! 💛
