Welcome to Small Wins, a newsletter that shares a small win with you every other week — one that has the power to improve your cooking, your home, your life. If you’ve found your way over here but are not yet subscribed, here, let me help you with that:
Today is a good day: whilst the sun may not be shining, the weekend is here and we are launching Small Wins giveaways! A small way of spreading some extra joy from me to you.
Going forwards, I will be doing these giveaways four times a year (September, December, March, June) with prize bundles that will typically include a cookbook, some cooking tools and anything else that I think might be nice. December’s giveaway will include a particularly juicy gift worth over £150!
But let’s start with September.
This month — in honour of pasta 101 — the prize consists of more than £85 worth of pasta-related goodies:
A signed copy of Rosie Mackean’s brilliant new dinner party cookbook Good Time Cooking (Rosie is known as the Pasta Queen!) — scroll further down for a video flick-through
A Microplane Black Sheep Fine Grater — perfect for many tasks, in particular grating Parm over your pasta
A ridged paddle for making cavatelli (see the how-to videos in Pasta 101)
A pack of my favourite dried pasta: Seggiano pappardelle
Even better: as long as you’re a paid subscriber, you don’t have to do anything to be entered in the giveaway — it’s automatic. However, if you want to secure an extra entry, scroll on down to the giveaway instructions to find out how.
The giveaway will be live until 8pm tomorrow — so if you’d like to become a paid subscriber in time to be entered, simply click below:
Further information on the prizes (and logistics!) is included in the rest of this post.
Good luck!
UPDATE: Congratulations to Belinda, who has won September’s giveaway!
HOW THE SMALL WINS GIVEAWAYS WORK
All paid subscribers will be entered automatically (but please note that I am only able to post prizes to addresses in England for the time being).
To secure an extra entry, simply comment below and let me know either what you love about Small Wins or what you would like to see here in future.
The winner will be chosen through random number selection and I’ll get in contact with them via email.
If you win, but the prize doesn’t appeal, you can decline it and get an extra entry into the next quarter’s giveaway, giving you a better chance of winning next time.
THE PRIZES FOR SEPTEMBER
Cookbook: GOOD TIME COOKING by Rosie Mackean
Do you love hosting? If the answer is yes, this cookbook is for you. 20 dinner party menus, cleverly designed, beautifully shot and all delivered in a way that makes it easy for you to host effortlessly. Ideal as we head into the entertaining period!
Rosie writes The Dinner Party on Substack and her food is an absolute joy — I’ve been lucky enough to be fed by Rosie on more than one occasion and it has been, without fail, generous and delicious. Rosie gifted me a copy of her book, but I had also preordered it (because I knew it would be brilliant!!), so now I’m including my pre-ordered copy in this giveaway — and I got Rosie to sign it too.
Here’s a little flick-through — isn’t it outrageously gorgeous?!
Kitchen kit: MICROPLANE BLACK SHEEP FINE GRATER
A fine Microplane is one of my top bits of kitchen kit and this Black Sheep version, in sleek matte black, is particularly striking. Perfect for grating citrus fruits, hard cheeses, garlic, fresh ginger and even chocolate.
Kitchen kit: RIDGED PADDLE
If pasta 101 got you itching to make cavatelli by hand, I’m throwing in a ridged paddle for you to do just that.
Ingredient: SEGGIANO PAPPARDELLE
I love the Seggiano range of pastas — they have a roughness in texture that ensures that any sauce really clings — and my favourite in the range is this pappardelle.
DISCLOSURES
I occasionally use affiliate links in my newsletter — this makes no difference to the price you pay but it means that I earn a small commission if you purchase something through one of my links. I only ever add affiliate links to items that I have paid for in full and used extensively (typically over years).
